Meet ISCALIS

Wayne Wells

Wayne has been involved in many styles of music from playing Tuba in brass bands, to bass in a rock band, and all points in between.

The current line up of Iscalis he feels gives him the opportunity to be able, once again, to perform in a more acoustic style, and enables him to make use of his favoured instrument the octave mandolin, along with mandolin.

Helen Wallace-Bell

Classically trained pianist and vocalist Helen has been a singer-songwriter for over 35 years. Her performance background includes Clarinet and Euphonium in a military band, piano/celeste/percussion in the Somerset Youth Orchestra, musical theatre, and Co-Director of Jazzmanix (the University of Southampton's Jazz & Gospel Choir), along with arranging and performing her own songs.

A member of The Wimbledon Choral Society for over 7 years, she performed regularly at Croydon's Fairfield Halls and The Royal Albert Hall for the Festival of Remembrance. Helen has returned to her acoustic roots with Iscalis, enjoying writing and performing with the band.

Charlie Wallace-Bell

With over 30 years of experience, Charlie is an accomplished guitarist. He performed in an acoustic duo called Amy and Charlie until 2008 and founded Contagious Vibes in 2001, which disbanded in October 2012.

Charlie has been friends with Wayne since they collaborated in 2004. Their first performance together consisted of their unique rendition of the twelve days of Christmas at an office party. By 2005, they had started composing various tunes.

Charlie plays a Martin 00X1AE electro acoustic guitar, a Tonewood BZ 3EQ electro acoustic bouzouki, and an Ashbury Lindisfarne tenor guitar.
